CoolDog-Gear, a locally owned pooch gear company, participates in the Philadelphia Dragon Boat Festival.

CoolDog-Gear is a locally owned purveyor of new puppy supplies. The online company dedicated to providing pooches with the best dog gear available designed a T-shirt for the Philadelphia International Dragon Boat Festival. The full color design features different breeds of dogs paddling a dragon boat. The different breeds of dogs symbolize the wide variety of people who paddle dragon boats.

The Philadelphia International Dragon Boat Festival featured the fast growing water sport of dragon boat racing. Each dragon boat consists of a maximum of twenty paddlers, a steerperson (cox), and a drummer. The drummer assists in setting the timing for the paddlers, and can motivate the team during the race.

In dragon racing, timing is key. A team that is in time with each other but not as strong physically actually has a better chance of winning a race when up against a team that is more physically strong but not as in rhythm with each other. Race day this year for the Philadelphia Dragon Boat Festival was Saturday, October 6th, 2012 on the Schuylkill River along Kelly Drive.

Keeping with the generous nature of the company, CoolDog-Gear donated $5 of each T-shirt purchased to breast cancer research. “We attend a lot of community events and work with rescues (dogs),” says Paula Jaffe. The folks at Cool Dog-Gear regularly foster dogs, and the company regularly supports local dog shelters.

Some of CoolDog-Gear’s best sellers include Himalayan dog chews, Wacky Walker leashes and licensed sportswear for dogs. The company offers a wide variety of dog accessories, including novelty products like car magnets and Christmas ornaments, and also must-haves like bedding, bowls and leashes.
