“During a time of illness, families should not have to worry about whether or not they can pay for their prescriptions; they should be focused on healing. In this way, we hope the Coast2Coast Rx card can serve as a valuable resource for those who need it.

Coast2Coast Rx applauds the efforts of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM)—the international health campaign known for its iconic pink ribbon. Now in its 27th year, NBCAM continues to bring awareness to, raise funds for, and provide information and support to those affected by breast cancer. According the American Cancer Society, about one in eight women will develop breast cancer during her life and though each journey will differ, it is critical for patients to have supportive networks that can help them focus on comfort and healing, and access to real-world healthcare solutions.

Dedicated to improving health outcomes by making prescriptions affordable and accessible, the providers of Coast2Coast Rx, a free discount prescription card, understand the importance having the right medications when treating illness and disease—and the peace of mind that it brings. With this in mind, Coast2Coast Rx developed its program to provide patients with more affordable options to access vital medications, including significant savings on commonly-prescribed drugs to treat breast cancer such as tamoxifen, anastrozole and letrozole.

“Our thoughts are with families affected by breast cancer as we salute the organizers of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month,” said Chief Marketing Officer Marty Dettelbach of Financial Marketing Concepts, Inc., the providers of the Coast2Coast Rx card. “During a time of illness, families should not have to worry about whether or not they can pay for their prescriptions; they should be focused on healing. In this way, we hope the Coast2Coast Rx card can serve as a valuable resource for those who need it.”

With chronic diseases on the rise and the high cost of healthcare, municipalities across the U.S. continue to seek partnerships that provide affordable and practical healthcare solutions for constituents. For this reason, the Coast2Coast Rx card is the prescription program of choice for more than 230 counties, cities and townships throughout the U.S. As an industry leader offering discounts on more than 60,000 medications, the free program has earned endorsements from the State County Associations in Alabama, California, Georgia, Illinois, Minnesota and Utah for its effectiveness, ease-of-use, higher usage rates and greater discounts—on average, constituents nationwide have saved 60% in 2012.

“Healthcare expenses can take a toll on the quality of life for many individuals and families,” said County Health Officer Dr. Penny Borenstein. “Our goal as public health officials is to help our residents manage their health, and the Coast2Coast Rx card can be an important resource for constituents, whether they are dealing with the challenge of a serious illness or filling a routine prescription.”

Coast2Coast Rx partners with local government entities to support and distribute the free discount card, a collaboration that benefits both consumers and communities: for each prescription filled using the card, the participating municipality receives $1.25 for public programs, allowing residents to save money while reinvesting in their neighborhoods.

Consumers can save up to 75% on over 60,000 brand name and generic drugs nationwide using the Coast2Coast Rx card. Additional benefits include savings on vision, dental and hearing care as well as diabetes supplies, lab and imaging services and even some pet prescriptions and veterinary care. As the program has no qualifications in terms of income, age or health status, it is a simple way to ease the burden of prescription costs for consumers who have no healthcare insurance, inadequate coverage, high deductibles, or whose prescriptions are not covered under their current plan—and in some instances can be used to offset the Medicare Part D “donut hole.” With no membership requirements or paperwork, consumers can simply present the card when filling prescriptions at a chain or local pharmacy participating in the program to instantly save money on their prescriptions.
