4D to preview the first fully integrated JavaScript stack for the cloud; features to include IDE running in the browser and support for third-party databases.

4D, a leading provider of Open Source integrated application development solutions, today announced at JS.everywhere the availability of Wakanda 3, 4D’s popular JavaScript development platform. Wakanda 3 provides developers with an enhanced cross-device development experience for tablet, smartphone and desktop applications, including a new Form Designer and improved touch event handling for mobile devices.

4D will also treat JS.everywhere 2012 attendees to a special preview of features planned for a future version of Wakanda, including a full JavaScript stack in the Cloud, a peek at the IDE running in the browser, and 4D’s planned support for RESTful database connectivity.

Wakanda 3: Enhanced Development, Compatibility and Security
Wakanda 3 features answer the needs of the JavaScript development community by providing improved cross-device development experience for tablet, smartphone and desktop applications. This includes an enhanced Form Designer and improved touch event handling for mobile devices. Version 3 also provides an enhanced SSL security mechanism for Web pages on both the solution and application levels. Developers will find IPv6 support for the Wakanda Server as well as enhancements to the Code Editor. Mac developers will now have compatibility with the Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion Gatekeeper security feature, as well as optimization for Macs with Retina displays.
