Safran North America (SNA), one of the world’s leading manufacturers and distributors of project management applications, announced today that it has released to the North American market a new Proteus workspace solution that extends the capabilities of Oracle Primavera P6 to allow users to store cutoff dates as a “snap shot” in order to track project and schedule performance over time, providing users with the ability to quickly and easily see trends and apply leading edge indicators to run projections and perform analysis.
In addition, Proteus Performance View® will allow Oracle Primavera users to be able to track trends and changes against multiple baselines, allowing them to automatically note changes and measure the adoption of alternative baselines that may involve an anticipated contract modification, or adoption of an alternative plan based on the risk that their projects are experiencing to date.
Designed within the highly popular Proteus project management integration, intelligence and management application, Proteus Performance View® provides a powerful analytical environment with the flexibility built in to obtain both detailed and summary reporting to support internal and external customers.
Proteus Performance View® will allow users to produce time-phased S-Curves showing percentage of total scope planned, earned and spent as well as spreads against early and late planned dates. This information can be shared across a project team involving different companies and subcontractors, thereby eliminating data sensitivity issues.
For detailed analytics and reporting, the solution provides users with the ability to show early and late start/finish curves in the same histogram with the periodic numbers in a grid below the time-phased trending chart. In addition, users now have the ability to perform historical tracking of performance at the resource level where reporting of historical values is not affected by any current changes to Oracle Primavera P6 parameters, eliminating unintentional retroactive changes in historical reports. Finally, using Proteus Performance View®, users can annotate histograms to highlight important past and future events in a project timeline.
“Combined with the Proteus environment’s existing capabilities to access databases using Open OLE DB and to extend the analytical framework of existing applications, the addition of this capability for Oracle Primavera users will provide users with real-time time-phased analytics ,” said Safran North America CEO, Nicholas Pisano.
Proteus is used by some of the world's largest corporations to integrate data across a range of otherwise stove-piped systems, improving data fidelity and accuracy in reconciling work planning, scheduling and performance management systems. Its advantage against traditional custom coded and data mining systems is its COT/NDI approach, which allows for rapid configuration and deployment.
Matt Pitstick, Safran North America’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO), concluded: “Proteus Performance View® will provide immediate value to Oracle Primavera users, particularly those who must report time-phased performance information and those who need to determine trending and apply leading edge indicators so that project managers don’t always feel that they are looking through a rear view mirror. It provides Primavera users greater flexibility and confidence in the information they report from their schedules. Though our own Safran Project users already benefit from the ability to maintain history, and flexibility to allow the end user to customize saved Histogram/S-Curve layouts based on their business needs, we are happy to provide Primavera users with some of that same capability. With Proteus’ ability to accommodate changes in business requirements and reporting needs, organizations achieve an immediate return on investment and continue those returns far into the future without having to make any changes to their existing applications and investments.”
