The full list of Conde Nast Traveler 2012 Readers' Choice Awards, ranking the best cities, islands, cruise lines, airlines, hotels, resorts, and car rental agencies worldwide, appears in the November issue of the magazine. This year, 46,476 readers took part in the survey, identifying 1,306 properties and destinations.

The stellar performance in this 25th annual Conde Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Survey comes as Wentworth By the Sea begins preparations to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its reopening. In 2003, the reborn Wentworth opened its doors following a $30 million restoration to lead a renaissance of grand New Hampshire hotels. Since then, Wentworth By the Sea has welcomed thousands of guests – as the reviews from Conde Nast readers suggest – and has restored its reputation as the place for weddings, banquets, conferences and major social events. The hotel was a focal point in 2005 for the 100th anniversary of the Portsmouth Peace Treaty and continues to receive attention from Japanese visitors and the Foreign Ministry for the hospitality showed to Japanese and Russian diplomats who stayed at Wentworth at no charge while negotiating the Treaty at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.

Wentworth By the Sea is also host for the annual Winter Wine Festival(February 1 – March 17, 2013 will be the 9th annual event) and for black tie benefits for Crossroads House, City Year, the SPCA, Friends Forever and other significant local non-profits. Wentworth is also a community anchor for Seacoast Share Our Strength’s Taste of the Nation, Families First, Strawbery Banke’s Vintage & Vine and Passport and Prescott Park Arts Festival among others.

“Ten years ago we saved Wentworth By the Sea with the expectation that a grand hotel on the New Hampshire seacoast could return to its former glory as a popular destination and a magnet for local business,” said Tom Varley, Senior Vice President, Ocean Properties, Ltd., owner of Wentworth By the Sea. “It’s terrific to receive recognition from experienced travelers like the readers of Conde Nast Traveler magazine; but it’s even more rewarding to know that as a team we have far exceeded that original expectation in the community.”
