Rani Ben-David, President of Sleep Group Solutions and David Gergen, President of Gergen’s Orthodontic Laboratory partner to create the Pro-Player Health Alliance (PPHA). An organization dedicated to spreading awareness of sleep apnea and Dental Sleep Medicine, through free public events.

I wanted to become involved in the campaign because of what it stands for and what the people involved are trying to accomplish.

NFL legends, the Living Hear Foundation, the American Legion, and local police and fire departments join the PPHA to tackle sleep apnea on November 1, 2012 at the North Texas Automotive Museum. “Many people are not aware of what sleep apnea does to your body if it goes untreated,” co-founder of the Pro Player Health Alliance (PPHA) and President of Sleep Group Solutions, Rani Ben-David said.  “These events help to educate the public by spreading awareness of the disorder, and dental sleep medicine.”

It is estimated that sleep apnea affects millions of people and additional millions go undiagnosed.  More so, studies indicate that untreated sleep apnea leads to heart problems, Type II diabetes, cancer and even fatality.  The PPHA has taken on the responsibility of saving lives, by sponsoring the “Tackle Sleep Apnea” campaign.  The campaign is comprised of awareness events that are free to the public. Each event is in conjunction with former NFL players, the Living Heart Foundation and the American Legion. Players involved include: Eric Dickerson, Isiah Robertson, David Krieg, Derek Kennard, Emerson Walls and Roy Green. "I wanted to become involved in the campaign because of what it stands for and what the people involved are trying to accomplish." NFL Players Association Dallas Chapter President, Isiah Robertson said. "Everyone involved is trying to spread awareness and we are saving lives through doing this."

Each event has experts speak on the symptoms, health dangers and alternative treatment options available.  In addition, NFL legends shed light on their experience with sleep apnea and why treatment is important.  Players are also available for autographs and photograph opportunities. The next stop for the “Tackle Sleep Apnea” campaign will be on Nov. 1, in Dallas. The event will be taking place at the North Texas Automotive Museum and will begin at 7 p.m. The museum is located at 677 W. Campbell Rd.

Pre-registration is recommended.“ We are excited to see what the turnout will be, our events have saved lives and can also have a tremendous impact on someone’s life.” Gergen said. “We are also getting fire and police departments involved,” David Gergen, President of the PPHA and Gergen's Orthodontic Laboratory said. “These are the people that take care of us and save our lives and we are trying to do the same for them.”
