Cle Elum, WA (PRWEB) October 31, 2012
Sapphire Skies Land Company, a Washington State home builder and developer, is dedicating the necessary land for a new public sno-park to Kittitas County’s Parks and Recreation Department.
This 5 acre sno-park is designated for snowmobiles and cross country skiers near Cle Elum, in the very popular Woods and Steele recreation area with direct groomed trail access to the Taneum Ridge area. It is located off of Forest Service Road 4510 directly across from the Trailside at Woods & Steele cabin community. This sno-park will replace the former location of parking along the Woods & Steele Road, which raised safety concerns due to its crowded nature with vehicle traffic, snowmobile traffic and pedestrians.
“We are pleased to see this dedication finally become a reality” says Sean Northrop, owner and founder of Sapphire Skies Land Company. “Snowmobiling is sport that I enjoy with my whole family, and it is a really important activity for locals and visitors as well. People come from all over to snowmobile here, with some of the best snowmobiling in the West.”
There are over 120 sno-parks in Washington State with 80 designated for motorized use. Sno-Parks are at the core of Washington's winter recreation program. These recreation sites provide cleared parking areas, located near groomed and backcountry trails for winter recreation.
"The District really appreciates Sapphire Skies standing by its commitment to donate this property for a public sno-park” says Louis Musso, member of the Kittitas County Parks and Recreation Department. “Sean and his staff have always worked to keep the project moving forward."
Kittitas County Parks and Recreation Department has discussed building a winter shelter at the Woods & Steele Sno-Park and eventually installing restrooms.
