The Nurse Progress Monitoring service is an especially valuable component for high cost, chronic claims as part of our overall clinical intervention program.

Tampa, FL (PRWEB) October 30, 2012

PMSI, one of the nation’s largest providers of specialty products and services for the workers’ compensation market, announced an enhancement to their clinical intervention services, Nurse Progress Monitoring. The enhanced offering provides active monitoring and evaluation of identified workers’ compensation cases to assist with implementation of medication therapy changes that have resulted from the Peer-to-Peer collaborative process.

In Nurse Progress Monitoring, a registered nurse is assigned to a case and immediately reviews the new medication plan and begins making contact with the injured worker’s treating provider and claims handler. After each of the injured worker’s office visits, follow up occurs to evaluate the success of implementing the agreed-upon changes in therapy. A progress report from the nurse is provided to the claims examiner or case manager, giving real-time insight into the case.

“The Nurse Progress Monitoring service is an especially valuable component for high cost, chronic claims as part of our overall clinical intervention program,” stated Dr. Maria Sciame, Director of PMSI’s Clinical Department. “This close monitoring and communication with the treating provider ensures that the agreed-upon recommendations are implemented, facilitating real-time appropriate care.”

Nurse Progress Monitoring is offered through PMSI’s proprietary clinical framework, MedAssess™, and documents are stored in its claims management tool, VitalPoint™, allowing for on-demand access to reports of injured workers’ therapeutic progress as it relates to compliance, utilization and appropriateness. Nurse Progress Monitoring connects key stakeholders and takes a watchful approach to ensure that clinical recommendations are implemented, identified savings are captured, and the injured worker has a positive outcome.
