Jason Line's weekend at the Big O Tires NHRA Nationals in Las Vegas, Nevada certainly began on the right foot. The 2011 NHRA Pro Stock champion qualified Number One with a 6.590 second, 209.72 mile per hour pass. That run reset the elapsed time and top speed records at The Strip.
Line took that momentum into Sunday’s eliminations. He defeated Shane Gray in Round One (6.636/208.42 to 6.695/206.76) and Warren Johnson in Round Two (6.996/206.64 to 13.625/62.43).
Unfortunately, the momentum ended in the semi-final round against Vincent Nobile. Line was too quick off the line, resulting in a .055 second redlight. That handed the win to Nobile, who runner-upped to Allen Johnson in the final round.
Line is currently second in the Countdown to the Championship points standings with 2,504 points. He is 126 points behind Allen Johnson.
Greg Anderson began the Big O Tires NHRA Nationals by qualifying seventh with a 6.636/197.39 pass. His day was cut short in Round One of eliminations when his Summit Racing Camaro shook violently off the line, forcing Anderson to shut off and hand the win to Jeg Coughlin, Jr.
Anderson is currently fifth in the Countdown to the Championship points standings.
The NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by ProCare RX had its final race of the season in Las Vegas. Summit Racing’s Kenny Lang made the field by qualifying 15th with a 6.023/243.28. He had a .016 second starting line advantage over Danny Rowe in Round One of eliminations, but could not turn it into a win as Rowe hit the finish line first, 5.960/219.08 to 6.117/241.32.
Lang finished the Pro Mod season with 397 points, earning a Top 10 finish.
