Turner Construction Company’s Darien Grant was honored by the African American Real Estate Professionals of DC for his outstanding contributions in the real estate and construction fields at the 9th Annual Awards Gala on October 25th. Grant received the President’s Award, along with McKissack & McKissack’s founder Deryl McKissack for their contributions to the real estate and related industries and their roles on Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial project.
Darien started his career with Turner Construction out of their Houston, Texas office. After earning his Juris Doctorate from South Texas College of Law in 1997, Darien transferred to Turner’s DC office. Darien has held positions as Project Manager, Project Engineer, Project Superintendent, and Purchasing Agent before rising to the level of Project Executive. Darien has led Turner’s efforts on several major projects including the National Intrepid Center of Excellence, NAVFAC Utility Upgrade, Marie V. McDemmond Center for Applied Research, University of Maryland Medical Systems Lombard Hospital, and the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial.

Darien is currently spearheading the Howard University Interdisciplinary Research Building, the Federal Office Building No. 8 Modernization and the American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial. His broad range of work experience includes project delivery methods such as design-build, design-bid-build, construction management at-risk, construction management agency, and cost-plus. Darien has been with Turner Construction for 23 years.
