Empathy Lab, a suburban Philadelphia digital agency focused on driving breakthrough innovations across web, mobile, tablet and smart TV for Fortune 500 and fast-growth organizations around the world, announced the launch of Style’s QuickTips application – the TV network’s first-ever foray onto the Windows 8 platform.
For the greater part of 2012 Empathy Lab has been working to conceptualize and develop custom Windows 8 experiences for brands such as Comcast, Bentley Systems and OpenText. Empathy’s work for the Style Network is a content-rich app designed to deepen the level of engagement of Style’s famously passionate audience.
“The Windows 8 tiles and visual experience offer Style a unique vehicle to make our QuickTips conveniently accessible and easy to share for our very engaged digital passionistas,” said Carlos Sapene, Vice President, Digital and New Media, Style Media. “The Style QuickTips brand is completely utilitarian, providing timely delivery of the latest tips and trends in fashion, beauty, home and entertaining.”
The Style QuickTips app is based on Style’s Twitter account, @StyleQuickTips, which boasts nearly one million followers. To translate and enhance this experience from a social setting, Empathy Lab set out to design a content framework that would allow users to easily toggle, scroll and reveal related content. The key categories of Fashion, Beauty and Stylish Living create an experience for users to peruse and consume content in video, photo and article formats. Through the user friendliness of Windows 8, a successful Twitter experience translates into an interactive, engagement mechanism.
”We have thoroughly enjoyed our collaboration with Style Media,” says Kevin Labick, Empathy Lab’s co-founder and CEO. “Their desire to innovate and their embrace of Microsoft’s new and very powerful platform gave our team a chance to create an experience that both fulfills on the promise of Style’s brand while expanding the network’s ability to distribute its content.”
Expert advice on fashion, beauty and home, are instantaneously available through the new app. Video tips will be added daily, featuring top experts in hair and makeup as well as stars from favorite Style series sharing their personal secrets. From Giuliana Rancic to fashion icon Kimora Lee Simons, the authorities of these fun, short videos come to users with the tap of a finger.
“The Style QuickTips app is a great complement to the design of Windows 8 and a great addition for consumers who want personalized apps that are crafted to fit their interests and sensibilities,” said John Richards, Senior Director of Windows App Marketing for Microsoft Corp.
