Haunted Hotels and Halloween, a perfect combination to explore the 31st of October, a favorite American holiday. Old hotels may be considered creepy places, and often time’s have storied pasts. When a guest dies in a hotel, many believe that is what causes the hotel to become haunted. The older a hotel, the more likely someone has, passed away, in the very room where many guests stay every year. Stories of ghosts, visions, curtains moving, mirrors talking may seem crazy, but to many eye witnesses these claims are not just stories, but reality.

HotelsCheap.org is a travel website specializing in cheap hotels. With years of experience in the hotel industry HotelsCheap has identified some haunted hotels with the help of their clients. Below is a list of five haunted hotels that customers of Hotelscheap have experienced.

The Crescent Hotel: The Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs Arkansas was purchased by Norman Baker in 1937, a self-proclaimed doctor, who had no training, saw to it that many guests died in the hotel. Since that time many visitors claim paranormal activity during the month of October.

Lizzie Borden Bed and Breakfast: It was alleged that Lizzie Borden killed her parents with an axe in this house, which has since been turned into a bed and breakfast. Travelers can stay in Lizzie’s room, or even in the room where her parents were murdered. Many guests have claimed to see her ghost in the mirror, and strange noises have been reported during the night.

The Queen Mary Hotel: The Queen Mary, originally a pleasure cruise, launched her maiden voyage in 1936. Three years later the ship was commandeered for military use, the ship transported troops from the United States to Europe. In 1939 on a trip across the Atlantic, one of its escort ships tried to cut across the bow, and was cut in half by the Queen Mary. Three hundred crew members died. Today the Queen Mary is a full service hotel located in Long Beach, but many have told stories of ghosts in her halls.

The Old Spot Hotel: The Old Spot hotel is located in South Australia. Originally built in 1832 the building has served many purposes over the years, a morgue, a post office, and today a hotel. After renovations to the building, many people reported hearing strange noises at night, and seeing visions of a little girl. In the 1990’s a guest captured a picture of 3 ghosts, which has yet to be proved as a fake.

Hotel Del Coronado: Hotel Del Coronado is well known as one of the top hotels in the world. On the beach on Coronado island in San Diego, Hotel Del Coronado is famous for more than one reason, elegant Victorian Architecture, and for being a haunted hotel. Famous guest, Kate Morgan, committed suicide in her halls after contracting cancer. Since that time her ghost has been seen roaming the halls of HotelDel. The hotel is also host to a new Stephen King Movie 1408.
