Mobile consumption of news and other content is growing at an explosive pace, and very few media companies can afford to ignore this trend. For younger audiences, mobile is often the primary or even the only way to access content.

Helsinki (PRWEB UK) 31 October 2012

Conmio, a leading provider of mobile services, today announced the most recent of partnerships with major media companies in Finland and the USA. Their mobile and tablet solution will be implemented by Hufvudstadsbladet (HBL), Finland’s biggest Swedish-language daily newspaper. The new weekly title HBL+ is the first digital news weekly in Finland designed for tablets. Similar tablet solution has been used by The Seattle Times Company in the US for several months with good feedback. In addition, Finnish broadcasting company MTV3 Media will extend their existing partnership with Conmio with the Windows 8 tablet solution.

Conmio’s tablet solution for HBL is a browser-based HTML5 web app that works on iPad and Android devices and includes offline functionality. The software gives extensive editorial freedom to the content provider and ensures a high-quality experience for the ever-increasing number of tablet users. The new service is available at plus.hbl.fi.

Conmio develops software solutions for media companies and other content and service providers who wish to offer their content to the rapidly increasing number of mobile users. Their solutions integrate with existing publishing infrastructure with minimal manual work. Conmio’s mobility solutions have been used for a number of years by media and news leaders like Bloomberg, The New York Times, National Public Radio and Gannett. Expanding their clientele geographically and across platforms is a natural step in the company strategy.

The Seattle Times is one of the oldest and most trusted sources of local news and information in the Northwest with 5 million unique monthly visitors on their online network. Using an adaptive design approach, Conmio provides the software tools and development services to power the mobile web app for Seattle Times' smartphone and tablet customers at m.seattletimes.com

MTV MEDIA has already been using Conmio’s solution for their online TV service “Katsomo” on mobile devices as well as iPads and Android tablets. The new phase of the partnership brings news and video content to users of Microsoft’s newly launched Windows 8 tablets.

“Mobile consumption of news and other content is growing at an explosive pace, and very few media companies can afford to ignore this trend. For younger audiences, mobile is often the primary or even the only way to access content”, says Tero Hämäläinen, CEO of Conmio.
