Founded in 2007 by GayLyn LaSpina, In The Event has grown to include eight full time employees and three full warehouses of event rental inventory, with October 19, 2012 marking five years in business for the company.
GayLyn began her professional interior design career in Las Vegas, designing top tier multi-million dollar luxury resort communities, custom homes, commercial buildings and more. Shortly after relocating to Salt Lake City, Utah GayLyn began her career transition into event design and founded In The Event. Several years later GayLyn was joined by her husband Robert LaSpina, a native to the industry with over 25 years of experience producing live events for theaters, casinos, television, and even U.S. Presidents. With Robert’s experience in lighting, sound, video, staging, and special effects, it was an ideal fit to combine his efforts with GayLyn’s design background.
Since the company was founded five years ago, one of their main objectives has been to bring something new the Utah event industry. In The Event develop new products for their clients in house, as well as custom LED light displays pieces. “We’ve been fortunate enough to have some fantastic clients, and thanks to their continued support and repeat business we’ve expanded and developed an excellent creative team that ensures we stay on the cutting edge,” says GayLyn Laspina, company founder and President. In The Event is continuously pushing the envelope in regards to design and decor and creating something completely unique and unseen before, as is stated in their guarantee. As the company has grown and expanded so has their rental inventory, which now includes new items such as oxygen bars, LED light boxes, and inventory focused on corporate recognition. Additionally, the company now has the capability and staff to travel outside of Utah with their clients, or accommodate for rentals in other states and even abroad. In The Event has plans to continue expanding their inventory, with new furniture designs scheduled to arrive in January.
