Wheaton-Glenmont, MD (PRWEB) October 06, 2012
On Wednesday, September 26, 2012, an estimated 100,000 women of all ages participated in local health and fitness events at more than 1,000 community locations across the country as part of the 11th Annual National Women's Health & Fitness Day.
“The objective of the event is to help women make smart choices when it comes to their health,” said Joe Mahoney, president of Capital Hot Tubs. “From regular physical activity to eating better, now is a great time for women to start taking better care of themselves. Here are three easy lifestyle changes that can help,” continued Mahoney.
Get the Annual Check Up - Often, busy lives push getting to the doctor to the bottom of the “to do” list. And while most women feel fine, not having an annual health check is a sure way to miss important screenings for breast cancer or pap tests. Women should have an annual check-up with both an OB-GYN as well as a primary care physician to ensure serious health conditions like diabetes, cancer or heart disease are not present. Heart disease is the leading cause of death in women- early detection is the best way to fight it and the best chance to beat it.
Eat Breakfast - Everyone has heard it said at one time or another- breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It’s actually true and here’s why. Come morning, the body has most likely been fasting for at least 10-12 hours. Assuming a meal was eaten around 6 or 7 the evening before, that’s a long time without any nutrition. When breakfast never comes, the body goes into hibernation mode and slows its processes to help store body fat for future use. To keep the mind fresh, the body energized and the metabolism performing at optimal levels, food needs to be consumed regularly. Particularly for women having a difficult time losing weight, skipping breakfast will stop weight loss efforts in its tracks.
Soak in a Hot Tub - Physical health is easy to remedy- diet, exercise, even facial creams address physical issues. But when it comes to emotional health, the fix isn’t quite as obvious. High levels of stress left untreated can lead to more serious health conditions over time, making stress management an important part of good health. Nothing is more relaxing and effective for releasing tension and relieving stress than a hot tub. Twenty minutes in the evening after work a few nights a week and the tension disappears. Plus, with targeted massage from powerful jets, neck, back and shoulder stress is all but eliminated instantly. Hot tubs are great in that they can be used day or night, 365 days a year from the convenience of home.
“With stressful jobs, families and other responsibilities, it’s a challenge for many women to stay healthy and fit. There’s simply not enough time in the day to get everything done and still have time to work on getting healthy. That’s why we think this is a great time to help educate the public on how warm water hydrotherapy can reduce stress and help improve your overall health and well-being,” said Patty Mahoney. “For our part, Capital Hot Tubs will provide free hot tub test soaks in our 2 locations during the entire month. We suggest that consumers just call us ahead of time to schedule their free 30-minute soak so they can check out the benefits for themselves.”
