In the latest developments, the Steven and Le Ann Cyr Family Charitable Fund announced today that a number of grants had been approved. These grants were consistent with the mission and focus of the charity's guidelines, and received the full support of the grantors.

In the fight against cancer, the Cyr Family Charitable Fund approved a grant to TEEDOff atcancersa a charitable cancer organization in San Antonio, Texas]. This charitable organization gave more than $70,000 dollars to the children's cancer unit of Christus Santa Rosa Hospital. The director of this organization is “T-Bone” Bounds, who started this charity to promote awareness and a cure, when his wife was afflicted with cancer. The event, scheduled for 21 September, 2012 hosts the Big Fat Casino Night, followed by golfing at the famous Hill Country Hyatt Resort in San Antonio, Texas. The Casino Night features a live band, multiple food vendors, a silent auction and live action including original paintings from the Christus San Rosa Children’s Cancer Unit.

Another grantee is PressingOn Texas. This charitable organization caters to the neuro challenged population and performs many different types of treatments to improve lifestyle and potentially return someone back to a more normal life, or at least boost confidence to continue to improve their lifestyle. They have an annual fundraiser for a 5K run/walk for which we took the title sponsorship due to the alignment with our mission and focus.

Kinetic Kids is another grantee, whose mission it is to serve children with special needs. This charitable organization will host their annual Hootenanny, Friday, October 5, 2012 and will feature a FUNdraiser dinner, live and silent auctions, a new Heads & Tails game, and a live performance by our very own Kinetic Kids! Hootenanny proceeds support Kinetic Kids’ program expenses such as facility rentals, equipment, qualified instructors, team uniforms, and most importantly, scholarships so that any child has the opportunity to participate regardless of his/her financial ability.

MedSend was another of the grantees for this period. MedSend enables highly qualified and dedicated healthcare professionals to serve spiritually and physically needy people around the world in the name of Christ. They are able to do this through the generous donations like our grant. The program pays for medical student educational loan payments while they serve. Without MedSend, these healthcare professionals would need to spend years working in the U.S. to pay off their educational debt before going and being able to answer God’s call to serve – and many would never make it to the mission field at all.
