This month, Robert Weiss, LCSW, CSAT-S, hosts a series of professional workshops about the diagnosis and treatment of sexual addiction/compulsivity in various locations across the country.

Getting educated about these disorders and their treatment will help clinicians be more effective in their practices and can be an important step toward healing for individuals and their loved ones.

This month, Robert Weiss, LCSW, CSAT-S, founder of the Sexual Recovery Institute and Director of Intimacy and Sexual Disorders Services at both The Ranch in Tennessee and Promises Treatment Centers in California, will speak in various locations nationwide about the diagnosis and treatment of relationship, pornography and sexual addiction.

On Friday, October 5, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Mr. Weiss will be joined by other noted experts Greg Skipper, MD, the Director of Professional Health Services at Promises, and Carolyn Coker Ross, MD, MPH, a consultant for the dual diagnosis eating disorder program at The Ranch, for a daylong symposium at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania.

Titled “Exploring Process Addictions: Sex, Food and the Addicted Brain,” this essential training will combine practical insight with useful therapeutic tools and other resources to guide clinicians in identifying and treating process addictions. The cost to attend this event is $95 and attendees can earn up to five CEUs.

On Friday, October 19, Mr. Weiss will be a keynote speaker at the 39th Annual Conference on Addiction Studies, hosted by the Texas Association of Addiction Professionals Houston Chapter. Located at the Westin Houston Memorial City Hotel, Mr. Weiss’ presentation will address the treatment of sex and pornography addictions in the new media frontier.

At the end of the month, on Saturday, October 27, Mr. Weiss travels to the Spiritual Life Center in Sacramento, California, to deliver a keynote workshop at the Healing Sex and Love Addiction 5th Annual Conference. From 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., clinicians, students, couples, people in recovery and the general public will learn what to expect in the first two years of recovery from sex addiction.

To attend any of these events or to learn more about Mr. Weiss’ other speaking engagements, visit the Elements Behavioral Health events page or contact Jeanette Lisalda at (866) 825-1104 or jlisalda(at)theelements(dot)com.

“Sex, relationship and pornography addictions have existed for decades, but the easy accessibility of social networks, adultery websites, virtual chats, smartphone sex apps and other online media have presented new challenges for those with addictive sexual disorders,” said Mr. Weiss. “Getting educated about these disorders and their treatment will help clinicians be more effective in their practices and can be an important step toward healing for individuals and their loved ones.”

Mr. Weiss is widely considered one of the nation’s foremost experts on sex and technology addictions along with the intimacy disorders that often underlie these problems. A media expert to CNN, The Oprah Winfrey Network, ESPN, The New York Times, ESPN and the Today Show, among others, Mr. Weiss also has provided clinical training and program development for the National Institutes of Health, the U.S. military, and behavioral treatment centers throughout the United States, Europe and Asia.
