Warrington, UK (PRWEB UK) 2 October 2012
Cheshire town, Warrington has experienced a reduction in company closures between January and June this year. During this period, there were 395 company dissolutions, a drop of nearly 38% when compared with the same period in 2011.
A council report published last year stated that Warrington was bucking national trends, with house prices rising, busy labour markets and businesses performing well.
As well as fewer company closures, the Duport Business Confidence Report states that there was a record number of new company formations in Warrington during May 2012, and that its UK company share has risen from 0.4% to 0.5% during the first half of the year.
The positive economic performance of the area could be attributed to its strong manufacturing industry.
Howard Hopwood, deputy chair of Cheshire and Warrington LEP commented:
"Cheshire is the best kept secret in the UK. Our economy is very vibrant and contributes £22 billon to the national economy.
“Cheshire and Warrington remains an important manufacturing economy with a higher proportion of output gained from manufacturing than Merseyside, Greater Manchester or Lancashire.
“Our manufacturing location is of great importance and the message we are delivering is just how strong Cheshire and Warrington is and what great opportunities exist here.”
Managing Director of Duport.co.uk, Peter Valaitis said:
“Our latest report is full of good news for Warrington. Company registrations are on the rise, while closures are falling - this can only have a positive effect on the economy of the area. The strong performance we have seen in the first half of this year certainly bodes well for the next six months, and beyond.”
