IMAPS Announces Annual Society Awards

At the 44th Annual Symposium on Microelectronics, IMAPS (International Microelectronics And Packaging Society) awarded the following volunteers the highest honors the Society can bestow.

Lifetime Achievement Award presented to Rao Tummala
Dr. Tummala’s leadership and contributions that are a cornerstone of the microelectronics and electronic packaging industries. Rao is a legend in our community having made valuable and extensive contributions to both packaging technologies and the training of future leaders.

Daniel C. Hughes Memorial Award presented to Lee Levine
For his contributions as an internationally recognized expert in semiconductor assembly processing, and the microelectronics and electronics packaging industry and his years of dedication in supporting IMAPS through various leadership positions.

Ashman Achievement Award presented to Andrew Strandjord
For his over 20 years of accomplishments in advanced packaging technologies, especially in wafer-level integration and for his support of IMAPS as both a Vice President of Technology and valuable conference organizer.

John A. Wagnon Technical Achievement Award presented to Dan Evans
For his numerous technical contributions that include numerous patents, industry innovations, and technical publications.

Corporate Recognition Award presented to Kyocera America, Inc.
For their tremendous support of IMAPS at many chapter, regional, and national events and the professional development opportunities provided to employees through the company’s involvement in IMAPS.

Sidney J. Stein International Award presented to Yasumitsu Orii
For his leadership of IMAPS throughout Asia; most recently at the 2012 All Asia IMAPS Conference.

Outstanding Educator Award presented to Bruce Kim
For his contributions as an author and researcher and for his guidance to many graduate students in IMAPS programs and the microelectronics industry and his enthusiasm and encouragement of their participation in IMAPS.

Steven J. Adamson Memorial Award presented to Anurag Gupta
For his leadership contributions to both IMAPS student programs and his extensive involvement and contributions to publications in furtherance of technical knowledge.

Six Fellows of the Society presented to:

Richard Sigliano
For his two decades of active support of IMAPS with his positive “can do” approach in Society leadership.

Joseph Soucy
For his many years of valuable support of both IMAPS and the New England Chapter that includes both technical contributions and program leadership.

Ephraim Suhir
For his lifelong dedication to the microelectronics and packaging industry and his contributions to IMAPS.

David Virissimo
For his years of industry insight and valuable leadership to IMAPS and The Microelectronics Foundation.

Kalita Wtodzimierz
For his years of leadership support for IMAPS Poland and valuable technical contributions.

Larry Zawicki
For his contributions in low temperature co-fired ceramics and many years of IMAPS leadership.

Three Presidents’ Award presented to:

Wayne Johnson
For his consistent, steadfast and dedicated leadership in producing the international conferences on high-temperature electronics in both the United States and the United Kingdom.

Steve Kirby
For Steve’s dedication and enthusiasm in supporting the IMAPS Northwest Chapter and providing the leadership necessary to deliver value to the members.

Ken Kuang
For his entrepreneurial spirit and dedication as a leader for both IMAPS Advanced Technical Workshops, the San Diego Chapter, and IMAPS.
