Not many people can claim to solve a Rubik's Cube - much less in under 10 seconds. This competition is a gathering of Europe's elite where an astonishing 15 seconds to solve a Cube is cause for great disappointment. The winner is almost guaranteed to win with a sub 10 seconds! So this is how it works - Each competitor has 5 chances to solve the Cube and each time it is scrambled differently.

After several elimination rounds its the finals and the tension mounts. Nerves kick in, hands shake, the crowd ooohs and aaahs. Favourites this year are French, Polish and Dutch champions. See whats happening on the Facebook page here - http://www.facebook.com/#!/eurocube2012

A little bit of background to this incredible puzzle. The Rubik's Cube was invented in 1974 by Professor Erno Rubik and since its worldwide launch in 1980 has achieved iconic status as the world's biggest-selling toy ever - over 350 million pieces. With more than 43 quintillion configurations and only one solution, solving it for most mere mortals is a feat in itself. Hints, tips and lots of information on all things Rubik can be found at the official Rubik's website - http://www.rubiks.com
