Fire Protection Engineering Firm, Harrington Group, is honored to announce one of the firm’s Principals, Dale Hansen, has been invited to participate in a panel of combustible dust explosion experts at the 2012 Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) Annual Meeting. The meeting will take place at the Hyatt Regency in Savannah, Georgia from October 14th through the 19th and will highlight presentations on advanced and cutting-edge practices in fire protection engineering that are used to protect people, property, and the environment from the dangers of fire.
The combustible dust expert panel session will reflect on the impacts of combustible dust explosions and the various professionals who can be affected by combustible dust design. Attendees will develop an understanding of the challenges each of the experts face with regards to the design and implementation of prevention and protection measures in facilities using combustible dusts. The panel will also discuss the impact of upcoming changes to NFPA 654, the Standard for the Prevention of Fire and Dust Explosions from the Manufacturing, Processing, and Handling of Combustible Particulate Solids, and the role the fire protection engineering community can play in conveying the changes to their respective client groups.
Mr. Hansen is a registered fire protection engineer with more than 16 years of diversified engineering, consulting, and project management experience and has been a key member of Harrington Group’s team since joining the firm in 2001. Harrington Group’s long-standing commitment to excellence in the field of fire protection engineering is further enhanced by his affiliation with the SFPE Annual Meeting. In addition to being an active member of SFPE, both locally and nationally, and having formerly served as President of the Greater Atlanta Chapter, Mr. Hansen is also an Alternate Member to the National Fire Protection Association’s (NFPA) Technical Correlating Committee on Combustible Dusts.
