United Shade’s new Contract Division has announced more details of its “Smart Shade™” technology featuring the latest components of roller shade innovation, with a wide array of décor options and light-control features.
“We are committed to enhancing shade technology for the commercial, contract and construction market,” said Braden McCormick, president of United Shade. “That market can expect to see an ongoing series of product rollouts that will set new standards for performance, reliability and durability.”
“United Shade has years of experience in shade manufacturing, and we’re excited to squarely focus that experience on the commercial market,” McCormick continued. “For large orders, we have the capacity to produce quality roller shades in very timely fashion. Our Contract Division brings this all together very well.”
The Contract Division’s Smart Shade options feature high-quality components, such as industry-exclusive, heavy-duty, 17-gauge tubes. These “tough tubes” enable the support of heavy fabrics and wider spans and deeper drops for commercial uses. Then there’s the Contract Division’s Smart Lift™ roller shade system that uses heavy-duty 40 mm and 45 mm clutches to handle 16 nd 24 lb. lifting capacities for large, commercial grade shades. These clutches and their bracket systems are designed for a consistent and fast installation.
Added to this robust capacity are motorized roller shades with “Smart Power™” advanced materials, components, motors and installation systems. Smart Power control options include wall switches, remote control and group control programmability. Multiple shades can be synchronized to light or cool an environment instantly. Electromagnetically sealed hembars are also used in all Smart Shades for silent operation and scratch-free operation on window casings.
Visibility and UV block choices
Also offering value to the Smart Shade Series, is Smart Weave™ Solar fabric. All Smart Weave roller shades block out damaging UV rays that can fade furniture, drapes and carpet, while providing visibility along with comfort and energy savings. A wide range of colors, styles and degrees of openness are available to complement room décor.
As far as privacy options, the Contract Division’s Smart View™ roller shade system provides a different approach to combining privacy and visibility, with two alternating panels of sheer and opaque fabric on a single roller shade system. Smart View offers a broad selection of fabric styles, colors and textures, a color coordinating cassette roller mechanism, and two sliding bottom-bar options.
And, of course, Smart Shades means that roller shades are easier and more graceful than ever to use. United Shade’s Smart Rise™ feature uses a control mechanism to slow the shade’s rise as it reaches its designated height. There’s a fully adjustable recoil speed and stop-height control to customize shade height and retraction for a truly smooth operation. This is a child-safe cordless system that utilizes the newest technology in the window covering industry.
Smart Shield™ curtains for supermarket refrigeration
Also for Smart Shade products, an innovative fusion of technology and roller shades comes with Smart Shield™ night curtains for commercial supermarket refrigerators and freezers. The Contract Division uses energy-reducing, aluminized and perforated material for the roller curtains that reflect both radiant and conductive heat while at the same time preventing moisture buildup. These shields can result in an energy savings of up to 41 percent. The heavy-duty shades can all be electrically controlled by a manual switch or programmed to lower and rise at designated times. Smart Shield also uses snap-in brackets or powerful magnets for secure but easily removable shade mounting.
For installations, Smart Shades feature multiple head rail styles to easily mount in difficult or hard-to-access places. The shades’ safe, cordless operation also exceeds school, childcare and residential requirements.
“The initial reaction to our Smart Shade System has been very positive,” said McCormick. “Our experienced shade team will continue to address contractor needs with new product solutions. We expect our Smart Shades lineup to lead the way, for us and for the industry.”
