The new CDx Series of absolute encoders from TR Electronic features a Safety Integrity Level of 3 (SIL3), with high system performance and a low probability of failure. The CDx Series is ideal for applications requiring redundancy with various combinations of interface options available.

The CDx Series features both a solid shaft (CDV 75mm) and a hollow through shaft (CDH 75mm) option. Both options have 2 channels and are available with either SSI or Fieldbus interfaces.

The CDx Series with SSI features two redundant SSI interfaces – the master system and the safety system. The master system has a 25 bit total resolution, 8192 steps per revolution across 4096 revolutions. It uses SIN/COS signals or incremental signals for position feedback. The safety system also has a 25 bit total resolution, 8192 steps per revolution across 4096 revolutions. Safety is guaranteed in connection with controls that are certified in accordance with SIL3 certification and monitoring conditions defined by TR.

The CDx Series with PROFIsafe protocol uses either a PROFINET-IO or PROFIBUS-DP interface on the safety principle of 2 redundant scanning principles. It consists of dual channel optical and magnetic scanning systems. Safe position and velocity values are transmitted after completing an internal cross comparison. This system has a 28 bit total resolution, 8192 steps per revolution across 32768 revolutions and uses incremental signals or SIN/COS signals for position feedback.

All CDx options feature a Protection Class rating of IP 54. They have a working temperature of 0°… +60° Celsius and are also available with a working temperature option of -20°…+70° Celsius with restricted functionality.
