Greenwood Village, Colorado (PRWEB) October 01, 2012
Colorado State University-Global Campus (CSUGlobal.edu) is excited to be hosting its first annual School-to-Work Global Consortium for students, alumni, faculty, and guests. The Consortium is designed by the nation’s first 100% online public university to help attendees gain new skills and insights on how to secure employment and advance their careers through workplace success. The Consortium will be held October 11-12, 2012 at the Inverness Hotel and Conference Center in the Denver Tech Center.
“At CSU-Global, we understand and appreciate that a degree is a valuable asset in getting and keeping a job now and into the future, but we also realize that acquiring job search and promotion skills are also needed,” stated Debbie Major, Associate Vice President of Student Advancement. “It is our hope that participants of the Consortium can draw upon the information they gain as they progress in their careers. Our mission is focused on expanding the state economy and helping adult learners achieve professional success through access to higher education; this Consortium is designed specifically to facilitate that outcome.”
The School-to-Work Global Consortium will provide students and alumni with information and a better understanding of how being strategically innovative can lead to their personal and professional success. It will include presentations and workshops on how to find job and career opportunities; how to maximize their marketability now and into the future; and how to improve their resumes, cover letters, and interview skills with individualized, one-on-one assistance. Finally, it will provide them with information on resources to use in the future including the CSU-Global Career Center, the online research library, and other professional services offered by the university as it also initiates valuable networking opportunities with faculty and recruiters from a number of companies.
“CSU-Global faculty and staff have worked hard to prepare for what we believe will be a productive experience for our students and alumni,” stated Dr. Becky Takeda-Tinker, “Our university is centered on our educational contribution to student career success. The Consortium is one way in which we can share the knowledge of the current job market with our students as well as learn more about their specific needs through frank and honest dialogue. We look forward to tracking the outcomes of the event, namely job success.”
