Advertising Savants and its production partner, Coolfire Media, won the Emmy® award in the category of "Commercial–Campaign" for its Saint Louis University Cancer Center campaign at the Mid-America Emmys in Kansas City, Missouri.
"The television campaign, which includes two :30 spots, demonstrates the human side of medicine through animated slice-of- life vignettes illustrating how each person's cancer is treated differently at Saint Louis University Cancer Center. Its multi-disciplinary approach ensures that patients are treated as indviduals, not just their diagnosis," said Tia Liston, Advertising Savants associate creative director. The multi-media campaign also included radio and a microsite with physician and patient testimonials.
“We love working with the team at Coolfire. They always make our ideas shine,” said Ms. Liston.
The team approached the commercials by filming the actors on a green chromakey set. The actors were isolated and placed into illustrated scenes designed by the motion graphics team. Once composited, a custom-built technique was created to give the footage a hand-drawn, stop-motion feel.
In addition to Tia Liston, the Advertising Savants team included: Tim Halpin and Ray McAnallen, writers/associate creative directors and Jill Barry, account director. Jason Stamp, Patrick Vaughan and Preston Gibson represented the Coolfire Media Team.
The Mid-America Emmy awards recognize excellence in the television community for markets in Missouri, Arkansas, Illinois and surrounding DMAs.
