BOISE, Idaho (PRWEB) October 09, 2012
“3 Of A Kind,” a psychological thriller that also puts the horrors of domestic violence in the public eye, kicks off a 17-city nationwide tour beginning October 13 in Boise, Idaho. Proceeds will benefit domestic violence shelters in screening cities.
“Something unexpected happened when we held our preliminary screenings,” writer and director Gregory James Green said. “Women were coming forward to share that our film empowered them. In fact, many said that after seeing our film they will now seek out help for themselves.”
That’s when the filmmakers realized the good that “3 Of a Kind” could do if screened nationwide. The tour starts at Boise, Idaho’s Egyptian Theatre on Oct. 13 to honor Domestic Violence Awareness Month. All net proceeds will be donated to the Women’s and Children’s Alliance. Tickets are available at http://www.ThreeofaKind-TheMovie.com.
“The profits from this premiere will allow us to help families find safety, healing and freedom from domestic abuse and sexual assault,” WCA Executive Director Bea Black said. “We look forward to opening a dialogue about the issues portrayed in this film and the best ways to help people caught in abusive relationships.”
A 17-city tour is planned. Producer Catrine McGregor explains: “We will donate all ticket sales to the local domestic violence shelter in the communities where we screen.” (See screening schedule below.)
“3 of a Kind” will be available on iTunes, Google Play, YouTube Rentals and Amazon VOD on December 1. Amazon.com will offer the DVD for sale on the same date.
“The film did very well at the 2012 WorldFest-Houston Film Festival,” Green said. “It’s gratifying to see critics recognize our work.”
In addition to winning the WorldFest Critics Choice Award for Best Picture, “3 of a Kind” also won WorldFest Jury Awards for Best Director, and Best Suspense Feature. The coveted Houston Critics Choice Award for Best Actress was given to Jodi Russell for her captivating portrayal of “Anna.” The film was honored at this year’s TrindieFest in Trinidad, Colo. on Sept. 15. “3 of Kind” is programmed during The Gig Harbor Film Festival in Seattle, Wash., at 8:30 p.m. Oct. 20.
“’3 of a Kind’ is an extraordinary film, and to shoot it in Boise was a wonderful experience,” said Margot Kidder, who plays Claire, the disabled sister of Victor (Tom Adams) with a riveting, heartfelt, performance.
3 OF A KIND is a sexy, edgy, psychological thriller that will make your heart pound. Anna's (Jodi Russell) abusive husband Victor (Tom Adams), once the man of her dreams, has turned into the man of her nightmares. But Victor has his own nightmares that he shares with his wheelchair bound sister (Margot Kidder). When Victor is away visiting his reluctant heroin business partner in Buenos Aires, Giovanni (Mario Di Donato), he hires Michael (Jared Zirilli) to watch his wife. Things get really juicy when Michael and Anna become more than just friends. Victor catches wind of their torrid affair and orders his hitwoman Christina (Jessica Manuel) to kill Anna. Now Anna must face the biggest challenge of her life and play the game – or die trying.
