After conducting a nationwide executive search led by healthcare leadership solutions firm B. E. Smith, Aspirus in Wausau, Wis., has hired Todd Richardson as chief information officer. A seasoned healthcare information technology executive with more than 25 years of information technology leadership experience, Richardson will assume his new duties at Aspirus immediately.

Prior to joining Aspirus, Richardson was CIO at Deaconess Health System in Evansville, Ind., where he was responsible for information technology and information security for the health system’s four hospitals. He led the implementation and optimization of Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) in all facilities. Richardson has also served as vice president of information services for St. Vincent’s Regional Medical Center in Santa Fe, N.M. and regional vice president of information services at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Richardson earned a bachelor of science degree at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. He is a member of the Health Information Management System Society (HIMSS) and the College of Health Information Management Executives (CHIME).
