A former police officer has his loyalties tested when he sets out to solve a murder in which his wife is the primary suspect in “The Sounds of Death” (published by Trafford Publishing), the new crime thriller by A. A. Pecora.
Cody Thomas is an ex-policeman now working as a private detective who has been hired to follow a client’s wife to gather information on her suspected infidelity to be used against her in divorce proceedings. Things get complicated for the detective when he discovers that his client, Mr. Hollowell, is actually the one cheating; Mrs. Hollowell’s reputation appears to be squeaky clean.
Thomas turns his attention to Mr. Hollowell and his investigation leads him to a seedy hotel room. Hollowell occupies the room next door, and the detective hears the unmistakable sounds of violent, kinky sex during his stakeout. The next morning, he’s shocked to find out that Hollowell has been found murdered and contacts the captain of the homicide division to turn over the evidence he obtained during his investigation.
When Thomas gets home, he tells his wife, Joanna, about the strange events that have transpired. To his surprise, Joanna confesses that she was the woman in the hotel room with Hollowell, but denies having sex with him and claims she had nothing to do with his death. She insists that she was only there to collect information on him that would destroy the man’s reputation, but is nonetheless arrested and becomes the lead suspect in the murder case.
Thomas has no doubt that his wife is innocent and vows to find the real killer so that his wife’s name can be cleared. As he continues his investigation, several more people are murdered, and the detective is convinced that they’re linked to Hollowell’s death. He devises a plan to capture the killers and set his wife free, but the mob is now involved and his own life is at stake. Will he be able to apprehend the killers and save his wife from a terrible fate?
