The Daily Planet for iPhone, heralded as "a perfect app.." by iPhone Life Magazine", adds Readability feature for a clean & comfortable reading view. With Readability, the app displays articles without distractions such as ads, menus or unnecessary white spaces. The feature is enabled for hundreds of news sources available on the free app, including the NY Times, the WSJ, the FT, CNBC, and more.
"We have thousands of news sources dynamically coming together to bring the best news to users depending on the topic of interests and their locations. One downside of the app was that every article looks different", say Mike Tanovic, VP of Marketing at Valiant Rock, Inc., the publisher of the Daily Planet App. "Readability closes that gap and bring consistency throughout the app with same theme, font size and margins. It simply displays articles in the way user likes, every time."
The feature is enabled by default, which can be turned off throughout the app from the App Settings. Users can also switch back and forth between the Readability view and the original article view using the top right button while viewing the website.
With recent addition of all New York Times feeds by section, the Readability feature is expected to bring better user experience to all news readers on the go.
After the launch, the app has been very well received with numerous praises from magazines, app-reviews web sites, blogger and users alike. The company expects even more users with a full inclusion of the New York Times contents for free.
The Daily Planet can be downloaded for free in the app store now, via the link below:
