Author Bryan W. Alaspa’s new horror novel, “Vicious,” his first novel from his recent deal with SalGad Publishing, is now available as an ebook for ereaders. This is Mr. Alaspa’s first work of fiction to be released with a publisher and the plans for it are big. The ebook is available now, in time for Halloween, and the print version will be ready in time for Christmas.
“I am so excited to be doing this in conjunction with SalGad,” said the author from his Chicago offices. “The experience has been amazing so far. They really do have a plan to market the book, the cover they designed is amazing and the editors I worked with were fantastic. I could not be more thrilled about this novel and I hope readers embrace it.”
Vicious is the story of a pair of Presa Canarios dogs who have been trained to fight. After years of horrible abuse, the dogs turn on their owner and escape. They find shelter beneath the porch of writer Jeremy Liden. That very same weekend, Liden, his wife and his two friends head to the cabin for a weekend getaway. What ensues is days of terror and blood as the dogs fight for their territory, trapping the four vacationers in the house.
Writer Iain Rob Wright has stated that the novel is “both feral and sadistic.”
This has been a busy year for Mr. Alaspa. He has written and published three books so far in 2012. He released a collection of short stories in the spring entitled “Flashpoint: A Collection of Curious Beginnings and Endings.” Mr. Alaspa then published his true crime book “Sabotage: A Chronicle of the Chesterton Crash” mid-summer. He then released his first hard-boiled detective novel in August entitled “Deklan Falls: One Against Many,” and says he hopes to find a publisher for that one, as well.
