OnCoQuest’s Online Oncology Expert Review Platform Launches at ESMO 2012

OnCoQuest, a recently established, international non-profit society dedicated to requesting contemporary oncology treatment for cancer patients, proudly announces the launch of its principal initiative. Its web-based platform will provide cancer patients’ access to international cancer experts who can be requested to review their case and provide independent, evidence-based, and multidisciplinary expert review reports.

OnCoQuest, a recently established, international non-profit society dedicated to requesting contemporary oncology treatment for cancer patients, proudly announces the launch of its principal initiative. Its web-based platform will provide cancer patients’ access to international cancer experts who can be requested to review their case and provide independent, evidence-based, and multidisciplinary expert review reports. This initial service that OnCoQuest is offering will be available as of ESMO 2012.

The mission of OnCoQuest is to provide additional, multidisciplinary, oncological expert reviews of patient cases that might be particularly difficult or in cases where the treating physician would want assistance putting recent scientific advances into a clinical perspective. The scientific steering committee, chaired by Professor Pierfranco Conte, consists of internationally renowned, experts in various tumor types, and includes pathologists, surgical, radiation and medical oncologists.

Supported by state-of-the-art security protection, the platform guarantees secure review and patient case discussions virtually. Patients can work with their treating physician or any other physician to upload all medical history and information in digital format for personalised review and comment by an international multidisciplinary expert panel.

There are various service levels at various fees: normal, limited or expedited patient case reviews. The price range varies from €550 to €1450 depending on the number of experts involved and the requested turnaround time.

Professor Pierfranco Conte, chair of OnCoQuest society steering committee explains, “we recognised that to increase the overall survival in cancer patients, we needed to support physicians with knowledge and multidisciplinary support to translating recent scientific advances into clinical perspectives.”

Chaired by Professor Pierfranco Conte, OnCoQuest society’s scientific steering committee consists of internationally renowned experts, based in different European countries. OnCoQuest has as its mission to provide an international multidisciplinary expert review of patient cases upon request.

OnCoQuest is established as a non-for-profit association under Dutch law.
