The Celebrity Summit Solsticized – An Update and Enhancement to the Interior of an Older Cruise Ship

Share Article

The Celebrity Summit was recently Solsticized – an update and enhancement of some of the cruise ship’s public areas and staterooms. Representatives from Travel and Tours Unlimited, a travel agency which specializes in cruise vacations, recently toured the Summit to provide its clients with a first-hand report on the improvements to the interior of the ship.

These renovations and improvements to the Summit have provided a classy, upscale feel to the interior of the ship.

Representatives from Travel & Tours Unlimited recently traveled to the cruise ship terminal at Cape Liberty in Bayonne, New Jersey to participate in a ship tour of the Celebrity Summit cruise ship. The public areas of the cruise ship were visited, the various categories of staterooms and suites examined, and lunch was served in the ship’s main dining area.

Celebrity Cruises has recently made a “splash” in the cruise industry with the launch of five new ships – one each year for the past five years. Celebrity claims that the incorporation of these five new ships in its fleet have given it the youngest fleet of any major cruise line.

With the first of these five new ships named the Celebrity Solstice, the ships, which are virtually identical in size, are referred to as Solstice Class ships. Each of the Solstice Class ships included certain features and amenities that were in keeping with the cruise line’s branding of itself as a modern luxury experience. For example, while all of the staterooms were furnished with state-of-the-art amenities, certain ones designated as AquaClass were described as spa-inspired staterooms. Enhanced dining options were also added to provide upscale specialty dining experiences.

The Celebrity Summit, one of the older ships in Celebrity Cruises’ young fleet, was recently “solsticized” along with other ships that were launched before the five Solstice Class ships. This solsticizing entailed updating and enhancing some of the ships public areas and staterooms with selected features and amenities found on the Solstice Class ships. These renovations and improvements to the Summit have provided a classy, upscale feel to the interior of the ship.

Although the cruise ship terminal is unremarkable in its design and appearance, the location of the terminal, in view of the Statue of Liberty and the New York City skyline, make in a dramatic venue to begin a cruise experience.

Representatives from Travel & Tours Unlimited will be sailing on the fifth of the five Solstice Class ships, the Celebrity Reflection, in early December when the Reflection makes its debut on this continent with its North American inaugural sailing.
