Ascom provides centralised telephony solution for retail giant

Ascom UK is pleased to announce they will be supplying their IP-DECT centralised telephony solution to another retail giant. Following a successful trial period in their smaller stores, the retail giant has chosen to roll out the solution to 500 of their superstores.

With the intention of embracing IP-Telephony due to the centralised nature and control they will have over their telephony estate, the retailer engaged with Ascom at the start of their IP-Telephony roll out project. Ascom suggested store-wide IP-DECT base stations which report back to two centrally located Cisco Unified CallManagers via SIP Protocol. By using Cisco CallManagers the stores are able to take advantage of a centralised IP-Telephone system on one common Wide Area Network, allowing calls to be made from store to store for free via the internet.

The solution incorporates Ascom’s new generation IP-DECT d81 phones, a newly developed till communications platform and Ascom’s unique fully integrated Unite messaging platform. Ascom’s fully integrated applications will unite and transform the customer’s communication capability both in store and centrally across the whole estate.

Ascom is the largest supplier of DECT equipment within the UK FMCG market; this experience was vital in demonstrating their ability to deliver an excellent solution.
