After the amazing European victory at the Ryder cup even more men will now be enthused to hit the course for a few rounds, however some men maybe using it as an excuse to sneak out of the house.

A survey conducted by leading Extra-marital affairs website IllicitEncounters.com has found that playing golf is the number one hobby men use as an excuse to cover up a fling.

The site with over 700,000 members found that 45% of men who answered the survey have used golf as an excuse to slip away from home to spend some quality time with their secret squeeze. After the success of the European team at the Ryder Cup it is expected that more men will be wanting to emulate some of the big name players on and off the golf course.

Spokesperson for IllicitEncounters.com Rosie Freeman-Jones said:
“It is not unusual for men to use an existing hobby like golf or an interest such as cars as an excuse to get out of the house, I have even seen examples of men taking up hobbies as a cover for a secret relationship.

Sports that exonerate prolonged time out of the house are the ideal cover story, giving men a good amount of time to play away without their other halves thinking twice about goings on. Golf can go on all day and men can blame poor signal or golfing etiquette for not answering the phone.

The second most popular excuse was motor racing, with 27% of the men asked having used the sport as an excuse. This is unsurprising as a previous poll conducted by the site revealed that members of the site have a penchant for owning luxury cars, with the top three makes being BMW, Audi and Mercedes.
