Growth in Employment Law practice predicted by peer monitor index supported by open positions sought to be filled by law firm clients of BCG Attorney Search
In early September, the Hildebrandt Institute’s Peer Monitor Index claimed that Labor and Employment was the hottest area in the second quarter of 2012 compared to other practice areas, and compared to the same period last year in Labor and Employment, itself.
The Peer Monitor Index for the 2nd quarter of 2012 mentioned that demand for labor and employment work rose by nearly 5 percent while demand in most other areas of law practice fell. The trend seems there to stay as borne out by the consistent demands for attorneys made by clients of BCG Attorney Search even a month after the release of PMI for the 2nd quarter.
BCG Attorney Search is a premium legal recruitment firm for attorneys. It networks with law firms across the country and even internationally to place top candidates at the nation’s best law firms. Right now, against a total of 3296 law firm vacancies for attorneys on BCG’s search list, more than 150 are for the job of an Employment Attorney.
The growth in the Employment law sector is also demonstrated by the huge percentage of partner positions open in Employment law. Out of 154 openings for employment attorneys on BCG Attorney Search, more than 50, or almost one-third were offers for partner-level jobs. Also many openings required by clients of BCG Attorney Search are for both individual attorneys, as well as groups of attorneys, even at partner-level.
Currently from clients of BCG Attorney Search in the DC area, there are 5 vacancies for employment attorneys. There are 10 openings for employment attorneys from the Chicago legal recruiter with 5 vacancies for partner-level employment attorneys. BCG’s New York City legal recruiter reported 8 New York city attorney placements open for employment attorneys, with 2 partner-level opportunities. Considering cosmopolitan areas, growth prospects for employment attorneys in Chicago seem to be the highest among BCG Attorney Search’s clients.
According to Harrison Barnes, CEO of BCG Attorney Search, the surge in employment attorneys and partner positions in employment law over the last few months has been dramatic, when compared to traditional practice areas like Litigation, which though has 510 openings being sought to be filled by clients of BCG, only 67 partner positions are open against that number. So out of total vacancies sought to be filled by BCG’s clients, Employment law practice shows close to 33% partner positions available, while litigation practice shows availability of 13% partner positions.
