The 2012 Pink Ribbon Classic golf tournament benefiting the American Cancer Society raised over $100,000. The American Cancer Society supports cancer research, champions cancer awareness and directs fund raising efforts to support these aims. The shotgun style event featured 120 lady golfers.
Ted Hall, Anchor at 11Alive News (WXIA.TV Atlanta) opened the tournament sharing his son’s cancer survivor story and later introduced cancer survivors present at the tournament. Winner of the 2009 Open Championship, Atlanta resident and pro golfer Stewart Cink kicked off the tournament with the opening drive. Former Atlanta Braves catcher and River Club resident Javier Lopez provided the long drives at the ninth hole.
Complete Flooring Supply, CFS Corporation, was the presenting sponsor. The Cure Sponsors where the Lynch Family and Costco Wholesale. Survivorship Sponsors were Jeff and Lisa Russell, Atlanta Classic Cars, Enterprise, Georgia Power, Nalley Automotive and US Bank.
