Those moments are perfect for videographic documentation because
the slowly evolving stream of transformation might have gone unnoticed in a few still photographic shots

Maui’d Forever is one of Hawaii’s few full service, all-Hawaiian Islands wedding planner and coordinator. Founded in 2003 by entrepreneur Mark Steffan, the company operates on the Hawaiian Islands of Oahu, Maui, Kauai and the Big Island of Hawaii. They use over 150 different wedding vendors and still find the need to add additional members to their team.
They are happy to announce their newest member on the Island of Kauai, Videographer, Jana Rothenberg. Maui’d Forever Mark Steffan used to think wedding video’s were all just about the same. He says “After seeing hundreds of wedding video’s over the years I can definitely see a difference in quality from one vendor to the next. When I have a demanding bride that absolutely needs the best I know I can rely on Jana to come through with the best”.
Jana Rothenberg, Wedding Videographer, with over 25 years as an entrepreneur, writer and artistic director in corporate communications, sees her video wedding documentaries as richly woven segments of a personal romance story. “In today’s visual environment, movement and drama catch our emotional attention. Memories remain alive in video movies where the sun flashes between kissing lips, in the gradual blooming of the bride’s smile and where the spark of a tear of joy make the present possible again and again.” Rothenberg told how one bride - shy and a bit uncertain before the ceremony - was transformed by the end of her wedding vows into a radiant, confident bride. “She was like a young maiden and in just 20 minutes, she changed into a vibrant queen.
Those moments are perfect for videographic documentation because the slowly evolving stream of transformation might have gone unnoticed in a few still photographic shots”. The movie camera captures every nuance and in watching the wedding later, the audience is engaged in the moment more fully. Couples are focused on each other during the wedding and the world around them is non-existent. Watching the video, the couple sees they are a part of a larger experience. Rothenberg continued, “A groom told me that they felt even more connected to each other and to their marriage”. Watching and hearing their wedding vows has become an anniversary celebration for many couples.
Couples have videos made of their special days for a variety of reasons. Most often it is to share their Hawaiian wedding with friends and family back home. The added joy comes with each anniversary when the couple digitally re-visits the loving space of their wedding ceremony.
Rothenberg employs cinematic style of video editing. Thematic music is used to establish the mood of the wedding. Visually, that mood is supported through artistic use of slow motion, soft focus, smooth transitions, and a variety of dramatic camera angles. Shooting with two or more cameras, the story unfolds editing between the two cameras for different points of view. Documentary style of shooting and editing uses realistic time sequences and few special effects. Rothenberg incorporates both documentary and cinematographic styles so that the story is true to the wedding event and yet is still romantic.
Jana is now available on the Island of Kauai to shoot wedding and vow renewal video’s. She is available in the Maui’d Forever wedding packages that offer video.
