SKYCIG Supports NHS Stoptober Campaign

SKYCIG, the UK’s leading electronic cigarette brand is fully supporting the NHS and their aim to cut the smoking rate with their October campaign – Stoptober. From the 1st – 28th October 2012, SKYCIG will show its support for ‘Stoptober’, a brand new initiative organised by the NHS, which aims to encourage more of the UK’s smoking community to cut out cigarettes for good.

The NHS initiative has been introduced following recent statistics which revealed the percentage of smokers not wishing to stop smoking had increased during 2008-2011, from 15 per cent to 21.85 per cent. Smoking is the biggest cause of premature death in England and each year it accounts for over 100,000 deaths in the UK and 1 in 2 long-term smokers will die prematurely from a smoking related disease. SKYCIG electronic cigarette, which offers smokers a healthier and cheaper alternative to tobacco cigarettes, is happy to support and encourage even more smokers to make the switch during the 28-day NHS Stoptober campaign.

It has been found that smokers who manage to quit for a minimum of 28 days are five times more likely to continue and stop completely. In support of Stoptober, SKYCIG are running a variety of promotions along with providing helpful tips in making the switch from traditional tobacco cigarettes through their social media channels. Not only are SKYCIG supporting the NHS campaign for October, many celebrities have decided to get involved including former England football player Ian Wright: “This is a fantastic campaign, which will really help encourage quitters to work together and give up cigarettes for good. I will be supporting everyone by showing ways to improve health and fitness for people of all levels, and to make sure the cigarettes stay stubbed out.”
