Target Markets Board Explores Opportunities in China

ReSource Pro and Government Officials in the City of Qingdao host delegation during their second leg of the trip.

We wanted to share our experience in building a China based insurance operation and introduce the program administration industry to opportunities in China.

The Target Markets Program Administrators Association (TMPAA) recently concluded a 7-day board retreat and investigative trip to explore insurance business opportunities in China.

During the second leg of their trip, ReSource Pro, a leading provider of productivity solutions for the insurance industry, hosted the 12-member delegation at the ReSource Pro offices in Qingdao, China. The delegation, led by Jeremy Hitzig, TMPAA Board President and CEO of Distinguished Programs (parent company of ReSource Pro), was comprised of 12 senior insurance executives representing 10 different American insurance enterprises.

The 7-day trip was sponsored and underwritten by Distinguished Programs and ReSource Pro. During the visit Hitzig commented, “We launched ReSource Pro in 2003 and it has grown into a leading business process outsourcing firm for the insurance industry, employing more than 1,000 people in Qingdao. We wanted to share our experience in building a China based insurance operation and introduce the program administration industry to opportunities in China.”

A reception and meeting, hosted by Governor Hua Yusong from the Shinan District Government, addressed the building of bilateral relationships and potential future cooperation between the Chinese and U.S. insurance industries. Among other attendees were Hou Qingying, General Manager of China Life Insurance Company and Liu Xiyan, Deputy General Manager of PICC Property & Casualty Company. The delegation learned about the growth and opportunities in the Chinese insurance market while sharing information about their industry specialties.

Commenting on the visit, Matt Bruno, Managing Director of ReSource Pro said, “We were delighted to have been able to showcase our facilities, introduce the TMPAA Board to our great team, as well as share some of the challenges and opportunities of doing business in China.”

Other stops during the trip included Beijing and Shanghai. In Shanghai, the delegation met with John Carey, Chairman of Chartis Insurance Company of China Limited and Eric Zheng, General Manager of the Shanghai branch of Chartis.
