"It [Casa Casuarina] is the crown jewel of luxury real estate in South Florida. It is a reflection of Versace's impeccable taste."
Saint Petersburg, Florida (PRWEB) October 03, 2012
Casa Casuarina, South Beach’s most expensive real estate listing, will be featured on the cover of duPont REGISTRY A Buyers Gallery of Fine Homes® November issue, which hit newsstands yesterday, October 2.
Coldwell Banker’s No. 1 Residential Real Estate Team, “The Jills," which is comprised of Jill Herzberg and Jill Eber, recently listed Casa Casuarina, formerly known as the Versace Mansion.
“Casa Casuarina is truly unique,” said Eber in an interview featured in the November issue of duPont REGISTRY A Buyers Gallery of Fine Homes®. “It is the crown jewel of luxury real estate in South Florida. It is a reflection of Versace’s impeccable taste.”
Originally built in 1930 by architect, philanthropist, author and political reformer, Alden Freeman, the 19,000-square-foot property was designed to pay homage to the oldest existing house in the western hemisphere, the “Alcazar de Colon” in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. In 1937, after Freeman’s death, Casa Casuarina was bought by Jacques Amsterdam, who renamed it, “The Amsterdam Palace.” In 1992, couturier Gianni Versace purchased the property and invested $33 million on expansions, including the south wing, and the pool and garden area, along with incorporating his own artistic vision. Then, in 2000, entrepreneur Peter Loftin purchased the mansion and has continued to preserve and maintain all of Versace’s design elements to this day.
“Casa Casuarina is visually stunning, and is one of the most well-known properties in the world,” added Hertzberg. “Right now, with the attention and action the high-end luxury real estate market in the Miami-area is receiving, it’s the perfect time to find the right buyer for this magnificent home. Whoever buys it will have instant celebrity.”
