Ryder Cup Poll Results In: Golfers Choose Phil’s Thumbs Up over Ian’s Bulging Eyes

The New York Golf Trail polled its fans and followers regarding their most memorable moment of Sunday’s Ryder Cup. The results were as surprising as the European’s stirring comeback.

Golfers chose Phil Mickelson’s sportsmanship by a two-to-one margin over Ian Poulter’s eyes (40 percent to 20 percent). Other choices were Rory’s late arrival (18 percent); Justin Rose’s putt on 17 (18 percent); and Jim Furyk’s putt on 18 (2 percent).

Based on the results, Furyk’s putt was one that 98 percent of American golfers would rather forget, while Mickelson’s smiles, clapping and thumbs-up gestures toward Justin Rose warmed the hearts of many.

The New York Golf Trail (http://www.nygolftrail.com) represents more than 20 of the top public courses throughout the state, as well as 15 hotels and inns. The Trail offers golf packages to Saratoga, Lake Placid, Cooperstown, the Finger Lakes, Hudson Valley and Central New York regions.
