Ron Gawthorp is a semi-retired author who now lives in Alleghany Highlands of Virginia. A veteran writer of some renowned community newspapers early on in his life, he has returned to writing after working in the oilfields. His first novel, Richer Than The Rockefellers, reflected life in the oilfields of Illinois, his native state.    Glimpses of Glory is his first published non-fiction work. Gawthorp lived for 22 years in West Virginia before retiring in Millboro, Virginia. He is a journalism graduate of Southern Illinois University where he won a William Randolph Hearst Award for feature writing. He has won professional newspaper awards for news reporting, farm reporting, feature writing, column writing and news photography.
