We wanted to develop a new brand that would empower people to eat smart, live happy while reducing or eliminating their dairy consumption,” said Rick Antonelli, Chief Executive Officer, Galaxy Nutritional Foods.
North Kingstown, RI (PRWEB) October 03, 2012
Galaxy Nutritional Foods is launching GO Veggie!, its new grocery store brand, at the Academy of Nutrition Dietetics’ annual Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo (FNCE) in Philadelphia. FNCE is the largest meeting of food and nutrition experts where key issues affecting Americans’ health are discussed, creating an ideal venue to showcase the new GO Veggie! brand, which features two lines; GO Veggie! Lactose Free and GO Veggie! Dairy Free, the first dairy free line of cheese alternatives created for traditional grocery stores. GO Veggie! replaces the Galaxy Nutritional Foods brand in grocery stores and will be available October 15, 2012, and distributed to retailer shelves shortly thereafter. To give attending nutritional professionals a taste of the delicious new GO Veggie! Dairy Free products, the company has teamed up with local Philadelphia Vegan Chef Rachel Klein of Miss Rachel’s Pantry, to create mouthwatering dishes at its booth (#767). Chef Klein will cook up delicious dairy free Mac and Cheese featuring the GO Veggie! Dairy Free plain cream cheese and shredded cheese products. Additionally, she will create scrumptious cucumber cups filled with a cream cheese center and topped with a coconut bacon to showcase the incredible taste of the new GO Veggie! Dairy Free plain cream cheese. Tasty grilled cheese sandwiches will be served using the GO Veggie! Lactose Free Cheddar slices for those who can eat dairy.
About a year ago under the guidance of a new leadership team, Galaxy Nutritional Foods began examining its existing brand identity and realized the value of creating a singular brand for the traditional grocery channel. Additionally, research showed that consumers were confused over which of the company’s products were lactose free and which were dairy free and that consumers remembered the company’s ‘Veggie’ brand more clearly than Galaxy Nutritional Foods.
“We wanted to capitalize on this existing brand recognition and develop an identity that would also empower people to eat smart, live happy while reducing or eliminating their dairy consumption,” said Rick Antonelli, Chief Executive Officer, Galaxy Nutritional Foods. “Our new brand GO Veggie! accomplishes all of this and we hope to inspire consumers to Get Up and Go Veggie.”
As the new brand was developed creating a delicious tasting products was the top priority and many of the existing Veggie products were improved to form the GO Veggie! Lactose Free line. Based on recent product development success with its Vegan product line, which has resulted in awards, Galaxy created great tasting products for the GO Veggie! Dairy Free line including a delicious cream cheese alternative in two flavors – classic plain and chive & garlic; a shredded cheese in two flavors – Mexican and Mozzarella and slices in three flavors including American, Cheddar and Pepper Jack.
Additionally, creating packaging that clearly communicated the product benefits to consumers and eliminating confusion was critically important. The new GO Veggie! brand ensures consumers know exactly what they are purchasing. The lactose free line, which contains casein, will be sold in the company’s familiar green package while the new dairy and casein free line will be sold in a bold purple package.
The GO Veggie! Dairy Free product line is completely dairy free and offers a variety of flavors in slices, shreds and cream cheese alternative formats. This unique and innovative product line has been developed for individuals with food allergies, specifically milk, and for those who want to live a vegan lifestyle.
The GO Veggie! Lactose Free product line does contain casein and comes in a variety of flavors in slices, shreds, blocks and grated topping formats. In addition, to being lactose free, the line is low calorie, cholesterol free and contains zero saturated and trans fats and is rich in calcium. GO Veggie! Lactose Free products have been developed for individuals who want to reduce the amount of dairy in their diets, have better heart health and simply eat healthier by reducing fats and cholesterol.
