BRW has just released the latest Young Rich list and mining magnate Nathan Tinkler is no longer number one with online software entrepreneurs Mike Cannon-Brookes and Scott Farquhar topping the list. Samuel Junghenn founder of Digital Marketing Agency Think Big Online says this is validation of the growing trend of entrepreneurs growing online businesses.
“The internet has made it easier for young entrepreneurs to start up and market a business. The start up investment is lower and the ability to reach a large market is greater. It just makes sense that the rich lists around the world will become dominated by online entrepreneurs as time progresses.” Said Mr Junghenn
New BRW Young Rich List leaders Mike Cannon-Brookes and Scott Farquhar have an estimate wealth of $480 million. Their wealth has been built on the success of their software solution Atlassian which, is a software suite to manage software production.

In the latest published BRW Young Rich List previous leader Nathan Tinkler has now moved down to second place. The list last year had a combined wealth of $7.3 billion but this has dropped this year to $5.1 billion. This is a reflection of the economic climate which businesses are struggling with.
