Boulder, CO (PRWEB) October 04, 2012
Colorado-based renewable energy and carbon management firm Renewable Choice Energy (http://www.renewablechoice.com) recently unveiled the data import feature for its Mosaic™ carbon accounting software. The company will be providing demonstrations of Mosaic, which is free for all colleges and universities, during the 2012 Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) conference in Los Angeles, October 14-17.
A web-based alternative to the spreadsheets traditionally used to conduct greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories, Mosaic provides users with an automated carbon accounting process, complete with a user-friendly interface and helpful decision-making dashboard. The software supports campuses with effective, transparent, and ongoing management of energy and carbon emission data, allowing schools to integrate the information and activities required to easily analyze, optimize, and mitigate their energy consumption and carbon emissions across facilities. Mosaic is unique among enterprise energy and carbon accounting solutions because it is based on more than a decade of experience helping clients reduce their energy consumption and environmental impact.
"Mosaic is a very useful tool for facilities-oriented carbon accounting,” said John Jameson of the Pittsburgh Higher Education Climate Consortium. “The tracking of historical data, combined with easy-to-produce graphs and reports, makes it simple for schools to compare emissions both over time and across emission types.”
Mosaic is particularly compatible with higher education campuses because of its unique web-based portal. Emissions surveys can be sent to students, staff, and faculty at each school to collect data about their daily emission-generating activities, such as their commute to and from campus. Mosaic then imports the data and automates the emission calculation process, saving campuses valuable time and resources. The tool also allows schools to analyze their energy usage across campus facilities, targeting potential areas for efficiency improvements.
To date, more than 30 schools have joined the no-cost program including Carnegie Mellon University, Mercyhurst College, and Hofstra University.
“We are delighted to be partnering with higher education and AASHE to help progress the goals of the American College and University President’s Climate Commitment,” said Tom Drzewiecki, Director of Business Development for Renewable Choice. “AASHE plays a critical role in advancing campus sustainability and climate change mitigation. The conference will be an outstanding opportunity to connect with like-minded professionals concerned about sustainability on our campuses.”
