I'm really looking forward to the opportunity to learn about the latest trends in university admission.

Andrea Aronson, an independent educational consultant in Westfield, New Jersey, will be attending the annual conference of the National Association for College Admissions Counseling (NACAC) this week in Denver, Colorado.

Ms. Aronson, who leads the New Jersey office of Montgomery Educational Consulting, will take advantage of the opportunity to meet with college admissions professionals from all over the country, including school guidance counselors, college admissions officers, and others involved in students’ transition from high school to university.

“I’m really looking forward to the opportunity to learn about the latest trends in university admission,” says Ms. Aronson. The conference will include sessions on changes to the Common Application, the use and misuse of standardized tests like the SAT and ACT, athletic recruiting in the NCAA, and the rise in the number of applications coming from abroad, especially from China.

Mark Montgomery, president of Montgomery Educational Consulting, described the NACAC conference as the most important gathering of admissions professionals. “We are proud to be part of this organization, and happy that more and more college admissions officers recognize the importance of independent counselors in guiding students toward the options that best fit their abilities, interests, and ambitions.”

While in Colorado, Ms. Aronson will also have the opportunity to visit several colleges and universities in the state, including Colorado College, the University of Colorado-Boulder, and the University of Denver. “There is no substitute for getting a first-hand knowledge of a college campus,” she explains. “Meeting academic and administrative leaders and exploring the campus gives me invaluable information as I advise my students.”

In addition to these campus visits, Ms. Aronson will also participate in the national college fair that follows the conference. “It’s a great way to meet other professionals and learn more about which universities will be best for my students.”
