Plymouth Meeting, PA (PRWEB) October 02, 2012
Health Advocate, Inc., the nation’s leading independent healthcare advocacy and assistance company, and Breastcancer.org, the world’s leading non-profit online breast health and breast cancer resource, are co-sponsoring a webinar called The Impact of Breast Cancer on the Workplace.
The webinar will be held twice on Wednesday, October 3. One at 11:00 am ET and again at 2:00 pm ET.
Most of the more than 200,000 people diagnosed each year with breast cancer will continue to work during and after their cancer treatment. There is much that employers can do to be supportive and help employees who have this life-changing disease remain as productive as possible.
The featured speakers will be Marisa C. Weiss, M.D., Founder and President of Breastcancer.org, and Bert Alicea, Licensed Psychologist and Vice President of EAP+Work/Life Services for Health Advocate.
“Breast cancer is a devastating disease that impacts employees’ families, friends and coworkers. Through this webinar, we want to educate employers that there are ways they can help their employees– from simply being a good listener, to educating them, to connecting them with qualified resources for support,” said Alicea.
“The webinar will help attendees understand how breast cancer affects everyone, from the employee to the people they live and work with,” said Dr. Weiss. “The goal is to create the message that employers can be empowered to help employees with breast cancer by providing important resources.”
This webinar will provide valuable information about how employers can positively confront breast cancer in the workplace. Participants will better understand the disease, risks and prevention strategies as well as how to offer the best support, resources, policies and services to help lessen the impact on the employee and the organization.
In addition, Dr. Weiss will discuss the findings of an informal Breastcancer.org survey, conducted with its online community about their experience with the disease and the impact on the workplace.
