Seattle, WA (PRWEB) October 04, 2012

The Globalization and Localization Association (GALA), the world’s largest non-profit trade association for the language industry, today appointed Hans Fenstermacher as its new Chief Executive Officer. Fenstermacher was until recently a vice president at TransPerfect Translations, culminating a 30-year entrepreneurial career in the language-services sector. He also served several terms as Chairman of the GALA Board, resigning his seat to take the post of CEO.

“GALA is now at an inflection point to fulfill its vision and mission to be the voice for the language industry and the resource for the language business, following the recently adopted GALA Strategic Framework (http://www.gala-global.org/gala-press-release/gala-announces-strategic-framework)” said GALA Board member Gary Muddyman, who steps up to serve as Chairman of the Board until the end of 2012. “With so many positive developments now under way, the Board felt it was time to bring in a new CEO who combines strategic leadership and entrepreneurial drive to complement our existing strengths and continuously support our members. We are delighted to have found that unique combination in Hans.”

Simultaneously with Fenstermacher’s appointment, Laura Brandon, GALA’s longtime Managing Director, moves up to become Chief Operating Officer. While Fenstermacher will focus on strategic direction, marketing, membership, and external relations, Brandon will focus on operations, administration, and financial management. “There is such strong momentum at GALA now, and I’m looking forward to working with Hans to take the organization to the next level,” said Brandon of the change.

As the new leader of GALA, Fenstermacher’s strategic focus will be on growth, visibility for the organization and the industry, and geographic expansion, among other Board mandates. “This is such an exciting time for GALA,” said Fenstermacher. “I look forward to applying my passion and knowledge of this industry to help our members be more successful and shine a spotlight on this incredible language business we are in.”
