MIAMI (PRWEB) October 03, 2012

Advanced Wireless Group, LLC (AWG), the leader in design and operation of complimentary Wi-Fi services in large venue public wireless networks, announced today that the existing wireless Internet (Wi-Fi) infrastructure at Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) has been transitioned to provide unrestricted complimentary Wi-Fi services for Twin Cities’ travelers.

This launch takes place less than 90 days after AWG was awarded the contract through a competitive process by the Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC). Leveraging the existing airport Wi-Fi infrastructure, AWG seamlessly implemented its Hybrid model. In anticipation of the exponential growth in network demand, the company has already installed a host of new access points and is currently proceeding with the upgrade of existing equipment while maintaining a fully operational, robust infrastructure throughout the 2 million square feet of airport public terminal space.

“We are thrilled to welcome MSP to the growing family of AWG airports providing complimentary Wi-Fi to their passengers and look forward to supporting the MAC’s goal to deliver this valuable amenity to their passengers,” said Scott Phillips, President and CEO at AWG. “Travelers to the Twin Cities will now be able to enjoy unrestricted Wi-Fi access with bandwidth that should satisfy the average user’s needs with faster speeds available to power users for a small fee.”

"Free Wi-Fi has topped the wish lists of travelers at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport for some time, and we are pleased to be able to provide that service now, through our agreement with AWG," said Jeff Hamiel, chief executive officer/executive director of the MAC, which owns and operates MSP and six general aviation airports in Minnesota.

Under AWG’s Hybrid wireless management model, airport customers looking to use the complimentary wireless service will watch a brief advertisement before enjoying 45 minutes of connectivity. Travelers can enjoy as many of these free sessions as they choose while visiting MSP. For those preferring an uninterrupted, commercial-free experience, or a session with greater bandwidth, a premium service will also be available for a nominal fee.
