You can’t let one roadblock stop you. You always have to think, ‘How can I make this work?

David Eckoff began his entrepreneurial journey in 1993 when he was working at IBM as an accountant and he founded “InsideCarolina,” a print magazine and paid subscription website covering University of North Carolina basketball and football. Today, he’s the founder of his third company and works as an advisor to some of the top technology firms in the United States. In a blog post released today by Company.com, the social network for small business, Eckoff discusses his path to entrepreneurial success and provides tips for those interested in starting their own business.

Co-founder of Pickoff Sports, Eckoff specializes in developing and launching game-changing online consumer media businesses.

Eckoff and his co-founder Peter Gruman and experts in online sports. They built Rivals.com (later acquired by Yahoo); Gruman was on the executive team at Scout.com (acquired by FOX Sports); together, they pioneered webcasting with the leagues and 300+ college teams at Real; and Eckoff went on to be VP of New Products at Turner Broadcasting, where he innovated in the business of... online sports.

Today, they’re developing a new kind of platform to better meet the needs of sports fans. In the article posted on the Company Insight blog, Eckoff covers topics such as social media, entrepreneurship and his new company, Pickoff Sports.

Eckoff advises entrepreneurs to remember that, “Problems will happen. You’re going to run into roadblocks. You’ve got to find a way to get over the roadblock, around it, crash through it, go under it—whatever it takes. If you do that, you’re going to find that you’re able to get through a lot more than what you think can.”
